Clare's Felllows Garden

While Mom was here, we were lucky enough to find Clare's Fellows Garden open for visitors--twice!! (on the 12th and the 30th)

It is one of the most beautiful gardens in all of Cambridge, and Derek and I have been walking by it since we moved here, hoping to happen by it when it was open. No such luck--until Nana arrived!

The flowers are absolutely gorgeous. We read about the garden in our book about Cambridge (we bought it just after we arrived, and Derek reads aloud from it every evening). Apparently, the man who designed the garden did it after studying how the human eye works, and planted it with his findings in mind. So, the pathways are created to make the garden look larger than it is, they are wide at the entrance and narrow as you move in to the garden. Visually--it is much larger.

The flower beds are planted with certain color schemes in mind, creating a stunning visual experience.

Of course Mom and I could have spend all day in the gardens, taking pictures, reading, and lounging on the grass. I think Henry would have been happy to do so as well. He ran around the grass, looking at the flowers and watching the gardeners.
